Gaining compliance with outstanding Housing Code violations increases the value and life of the property while decreasing blight and unsafe conditions in the community. As such, it is in everyone’s best interest to obtain and maintain compliance with all applicable laws.
If properties are not brought into compliance in the time frame as required by any notice or order to comply, a General Manager’s Hearing may be held to determine the next step that is to be taken to compel compliance with applicable housing codes. The Hearing Officer may direct the property be placed in the Rent Escrow Account Program, and/ or referred to the Office of the City Attorney for criminal prosecution.
