We offer a variety of services for people with disabilities, including programs for low-income homeowners to ensure their homes are safe and healthy, and programs to ensure that affordable housing and related programs offered by the City are accessible and available to people with disabilities. We invite you to look through our programs and services that cater to your needs. If you don’t find what you need, please call our toll-free hotline at (866) 557-7368 or visit one of our public counters located throughout LA.
The Handyworker Program provides free minor home repairs for low-income seniors and persons with permanent disabilities who own and live in a single family home in the City of Los Angeles. These repairs are for routine maintenance or minor improvements that address homeowners’ health, safety, and accessibility concerns. In addition, this program also assists homeowners and renters by installing safety devices such as shower chairs, grab bars, and toilet seat risers to help prevent accidents.
The Accessible Housing Program (AcHP) ensures that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to rent, use, and enjoy affordable rental housing that has received financial or other assistance from the City of Los Angeles (City) or the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles (CRA/LA). Visit the page to find out more about what rental housing developments are covered under the AcHP, accessible housing requirements under the AcHP, reasonable accommodations and modifications, assistance and service animals, effective communications, what qualifies as a disability, and other information on the program.
